Through a generous gift to the School of Philosophy, a fund for Graduate Student Travel Stipends has been established. The purpose of the Graduate Student Travel Stipends is to encourage graduate students in the School to deliver papers at conferences as part of their development as scholars.
Graduate Student Travel Stipends of up to $250 are available for full-time graduate students in degree programs in the School of Philosophy to support participation at scholarly conferences.
To qualify for a Graduate Student Travel Stipend, a graduate student must:
Be invited or selected competitively by organizers of a conference to present a scholarly paper;
Apply in advance of the conference by letter to the Dean of the School of Philosophy with details of the conference, including evidence of deliberative invitation or selection, the paper topic, and projected expenses.
The following stipulations also apply:
Proper receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.
Only one Graduate Student Travel Stipend may be awarded to a student in any given year, and priority will be given to graduate students who have never received a stipend.
The fund establishing the Graduate Student Travel Stipends is limited, and stipends are available only as long as the fund lasts.
